Have you ever seen this pic as a pin on pinterest?
I did. Actually, a few times.
And I loved the idea!

I always had some storage under my bed, as my bed is thankfully quite high, but I had only these here from IKEA. They have the perfect size to hold my summer or winter comforter, depending on which one I’m using at a time.
And I love, that these boxes have a lid
– it’s preventing the inside from all the dust!

Mir ist es schon ein paar Mal untergekommen und ich liebe die Idee!

Ich hatte immer schon diese Boxen hier zur Aufbewahrung unterm Bett, da mein Bett zum Glück ziemlich hoch ist. Ich verstaue da immer mein Sommer- bzw. Winter-Bett, je nachdem, welches ich grad nutze. Und dafür hat die Box die perfekte Größe.
Und, was ich sehr vorteilhaft finde, die Box haben einen Deckel!

And so I decided to combine my plastic boxes with wooden boxes (drawers).
I didn’t had and neither found wooden drawers in the size I needed, so I decided to make my own!

Da ich keine Schubladen hatte und auch nicht auf den Plastikdeckel verzichten wollte, habe ich eben selbst eine hölzerne Box um die Plastikbox drumherum gebaut.

What you need:	Benötigt werden:
1 board 60×80 cm OR 3 boards, each 20×80 cm 2 (more) boards, each 20×80 cm 2 boards, each 20×63,6 cm (if your boards are 18 mm thick – see explantations!) L-Brackets flat brackets (or scrap wood) screws…	1 Brett 60×80 cm ODER 3 Bretter, je 20×80 cm 2 (weitere) Bretter, je 20×80 cm 2 Bretter, je 20×63,6 cm (wenn die Bretter 18 mm stark sind, siehe unten!) Winkel “Lochblech” zum verschrauben (oder alte Restbretter) Schrauben……

BUT PLEASE measure yourself once again! I’m not that sure about inches :/

I changed my mind about the board for the bottom when I was already in the DIY market. I had planned on buying one large board in 60x80cm, but that was a lot more expensive, than just three boards, each 20x80cm, that I just screwed together. So – of course I took three smaller ones!

Ich habe mich im Baumarkt noch umentschieden und statt des geplanten Brettes von 60x80cm für den Boden drei weitere Bretter 20x80cm gekauft und diese zusammengeschraubt. (Ein großes Brett hätte deutlich mehr gekostet, als die drei einzelnen Bretter!)

At first I screwed these three boards together and then thereafter the two who are going to be the sides on the left and the right – I used L-Brackets to screw both sides to the bottom. At last I screwed the front and the back, as well with L-Brackets to the bottom and then I used L-Brackets again to screw all four sides to each other.
Front and Back have to be a bit larger that only 60cm, because the boards itself have a thickness, mine were 18mm, so the front and back had to be 36mm larger to cover also the both boards on the side.

Diese drei habe ich dann auch als erstes zusammen geschraubt und als nächstes die beiden Seiten links und rechts angeschraubt, zunächst mit Winkeln unten an den Boden (von innen der Box). Zuletzt kamen dann die Vorder- und Rückfront dran, wiederum erstmal mit Winkeln an den Boden, dann habe ich alle Seiten noch einmal mit je einem Winkel verbunden.
Rück- und Vorderfront müssen größer als 60cm sein, da die Bretter selbst ja auch noch eine Stärke haben und diese auch mit verdeckt werden sollte. Wenn die Fronten auch nur 60cm breit sind, hätte die Box in den Ecken ein kleines Loch und eben keine vernünftige Ecke…

I had bought some really simple boards, so they needed some color. I did two steps: At first I stained them really dark and afterwards I painted them with a white color-water mix like I did with my nightstand. And if you look closely you can see, that the knobs on box and nightstand are not exactly the same, but are matching. (The one the box is bigger.)

And the IKEA SAMLA box fits perfectly!

Die Bretter, die ich kaufte, waren total einfach und nix besonderes dran. Also Farbe her! Ich habe die Farbe in zwei Schritten drauf gebracht: Als erstes sehr dunkel gebeizt und danach mit einem weiße Farbe-Wasser Gemisch gestrichen, wie ich es schon mit meinem Nachtschränkchen gemacht habe. Und wenn man genau hinguckt, kann man auch erkennen, dass die Knöpfe von Box und Nachtschränkchen zusammen passen. (Nicht genau dieselben, der von der Box ist größer.)

Und die IKEA SAMLA Box passt perfekt rein!

Besides the knob I added these on the front corners. I only sanded and varnished them thereafter.

Originally I had the bottom boards screwed together with some other smaller boards and even had rolls under it, but then it was too high to fit under my bed… :/

Neben dem Möbelknopf habe ich dann vorne noch diese angebracht. Einfach bloß abgeschliffen und lackiert.

Ursprünglich hatte ich die unteren Bretter mit weiteren schmalen Querbrettern verschraubt und auch Rollen unter die Box geschraubt, aber dann passte sie nicht mehr unters Bett… :/

I’m so happy! Happy about that it’s finally finished (was only planned for months…) and that it looks so nice and that it’s so handy!

Ich freu mich so! Darüber, dass es endlich fertig ist (war ja auch erst seit Monaten geplant…) und dass es so schick ist und so praktisch!
